Capturing the landscape with a rich palette, Joann Quinlivan
embarks on each painting as a journey in which her love of nature and affinity
for color can be expressed. Primarily
self-taught, Joann has attended many professional pastel workshops over the
years in order to hone her craft.
Joann has been teaching beginning pastel at The Hedges, an Adirondack Resort, for the last four years. She has also taught at Ticonderoga Arts Gallery, Wiawaka Women’s Center in Lake George, NY, and as a non-credit teacher at Adirondack Community College in Queensbury, NY. She imparts her knowledge of value, color and composition in a relaxed and fun environment.
In 2024, she will again be teaching at Wiawaka Women’s Center in July and August, Diamond Point Library in July and October, and will be giving a one day workshop in pastels at Ticonderoga Arts Gallery in July.
Equally expert at detailed land and seascapes, Joann paints en plein air in Southern California and upstate New York, where she now resides. She accepts commissions and her clients range throughout the United States, England and Australia.
