Sandra was born in 1955 and raised in Elgin, Illinois. She graduated from Southern Illinois University and received her graduate degree from Castleton State College in Vermont. Sandra taught art in southern Illinois and in several NY schools, continuing her career in Queensbury, NY Elementary and High School from 1981-2014.

Now retired, she focuses on traveling and painting. She has just begun to exhibit her works throughout the area where she lives and has started to participate in art exhibitions. 
Sandra has paintings in private homes in England, Ireland, China, Myanmar, South Africa, India, Peru and the United States.
Her "Sunfloweres" water color painting was selected for the permenat collection at the Warwick Conference Center in New York. In 2015 and 2016 she received the promotional piece winner for the ADK Harvest Plein Air Festival in Ticonderoga, NY. 
In 2017, her painting "Vortex to the Unknown" was awarded the Juror's Award and selected for the promotional piece for the North Country Arts Center Exhibition for "Last Call: a Collective Oratorio". 
In October of 2017 she received the People's Choice Award for her painting, 
"Rooftops:at an Great Camp Sagamore" NCAC Exhibition
 She is a member of the Saratoga Arts Council, North Country Arts, Guild of ADK Artists and lives in Lake George, NY

Artist Statement

"Alexia with Pearl Earring"
Sandra /is fascinated by the rich subject matter and illusuion of light. Her Traditional paintings depict realism in nature, portraits, architecture and animals. She has expanded her subject matter to include whimsical horses with decorative hats and surrealistic paintings inspired by the devine. After joining the Adirondack Plein Air Society in 2014, she has begun to explore other painting techniques and styles that reflect her desire to grow as an artist.
